What are antioxidants?

Antioxidants are substances that slow or prevent the oxidation of important cell components in different ways. As scavengers of free radicals after reacting with the radicals are converted into a more stable and less damaging radicals, which is excreted by the body. Most of the antioxidants after they do their jobs, their life. Some (eg, vitamin C and vitamin E) restored and re-oxidation processes.
Studies show that antioxidants help inhibit the development of certain diseases. Reduce the risk of cancer, atherosclerosis and diseases related to smoking (lung cancer, cardiovascular disease).
